During our meeting after Ted’s departure, I devised and then proposed our new plan of action. Due to the setbacks of the past, we were behind schedule on this project, and we needed to focus on that constraint. Even though the team members had made progress on their pieces with their own tools of choice, Ted had been forcing the team to learn C++, in the hopes that all of them would eventually port their projects to that language. Opposed to that insane notion, I told Tony that we should use every person’s strengths to our advantage. Our new people Michael and Timothy could use their C# skills to create outbound data feeds from our new system. Marcus the Laugher could avoid being distracted and finally just utilize his PL/SQL and DBA skills to further enable and optimize our database. Earl and Deepak could focus on C# and their front-end tools. Bobby and I would complement each other to create a 2-man team that would replace Ted; for my part, I would finish the server daemon that would be at the center of everything. (Tony consented to all of it...not because he agreed with it, only because he had no opinion to bolster or counter it.) We could make this work; all that was required of Tony was to lead.
